Oaxaca: Overeating, Mezcal & Culture

Oh, Oaxaca. Probably the most hyped tourist destination in Mexico right now, it did not disappoint. It's known for its rich cuisine, mezcal and diverse culture. If spending your days eating tlyaudas, chocolate, mole and sipping mezcal is your idea of a good time, look no further. For something cultural, you can explore the nearby Zapotecan archeological sites of Mitla and Monte Alban. And don't even get me started on the crazy cultural festival that is Guelaguetza, during the last 2 weeks of July. Actually, it feels like there is always a cultural festival happening in Oaxaca.

Being back in Germany (sorry Kartoffeln fans) and writing this is really making me miss the food. Who wants to take a trip to Oaxaca?

Tlayudas, basically a Mexican pizza, basically awesome.
I'm on edge at Hierve El Agua.
Cacti to the sky. I wanted to bring one home.
At the Mezcal fair. Spice goes in, spice comes out.
I gave my friend shit for suggesting the stamp museum, but it is beautiful and worth going to.
Guelaguetza is insane. I need a separate post about it.
Is it vegan though?
Living in Berlin, you forget colors other than black exist.
Hiding out in Santo Domingo because it's hot AF.
Very cute couple also hiding in the shade.
Monte Alban from above.
Zapotecan site of Mitla.
